Configuration

HOW TO CONFIGURE
A NEW ID GENERATOR

Navigate to XIDGenerator Admin

Go to Administration → XIDGenerator → XIDGenerator Entity-Field Configurer and click "New" to begin.

Select Target Entity & Field

Choose the SageCRM entity (e.g. Company, Person, Case) and the specific field that will store the generated ID.

Choose a Sequence

Select or create a sequence that defines the numbering pattern — starting number, increment, and padding length.

Configure Prefix & Suffix

Set prefix and suffix options using Text, FieldValue, or CurrentUserInitials types. Preview the output format before saving.

Save & Go Live

Save the configuration. XIDGenerator will immediately begin generating IDs for all new records matching the configured entity.

QUESTIONS

XIDGenerator is a custom SageCRM component that automatically generates unique, configurable identifiers for various SageCRM entities (Companies, Persons, Opportunities, Cases, etc.). It replaces standard auto-numbering with flexible, rule-based ID generation that can include prefixes, suffixes, zero padding, and dynamic field values.
XIDGenerator supports SageCRM versions 2024 and 2025R1. Please check the product documentation or contact us for specific version compatibility information for other versions.
XIDGenerator supports all standard SageCRM entities including: Companies, Persons, Opportunities, Cases, Leads, Quotes, Orders, Communications, Solutions — and any custom entities you have created in your SageCRM environment.
By default, XIDGenerator only affects NEW records created after configuration. However, we can extend our services to retroactively refresh existing record values to match XIDGenerator sequences, bringing your entire historical database into alignment.
XIDGenerator stores its configuration in two database tables: XIDGeneratorConfig (entity configurations) and XIDGeneratorSequence (number sequences). Back up these tables along with your regular CRM database backup to preserve all XIDGenerator settings.
To reset a sequence: navigate to XIDGenerator Sequence list → open the sequence → set "Starting Number" to desired value → save. Warning: resetting a sequence may cause duplicate IDs if not managed carefully. Always ensure existing records using the old sequence are accounted for before resetting.
Users need Administration access in SageCRM and Customization rights for entity configuration. Standard CRM users do not need any special permissions to benefit from the automatically generated IDs.
Yes, you can deactivate individual configurations, disable database triggers, set sequences to Inactive, or remove configuration entries. Note: Disabling may cause inconsistent ID generation when re-enabled, so always plan for this before performing maintenance.
